ABOUT
Dr. Valerie Thompson is a dedicated Gynaecologist who is strongly committed to women’s health. She believes in providing exceptional care to help her patients lead healthy lives.
After completing her Medical degree at Flinders University, Dr. Thompson undertook her specialist Obstetric and Gynaecology training in South Australia and Queensland. She then worked as an Obstetric and Gynaecology Staff Specialist in the Public system. In 2016, she furthered her expertise by completing a Masters in Public Health, with a focus on cancer prevention, at Flinders University.
In 2017, Dr. Thompson established her private Gynaecology and Obstetric practice in the north-eastern suburbs of Adelaide. She currently consults and performs surgery exclusively at the North Eastern Community Hospital in Campbelltown.
Dr. Thompson is passionate about educating women on their health conditions and providing the best specialist care available for long-lasting health. At her practice, she provides gynaecological care for women from all walks of life, from adolescence through to their 90s. Together with her Clinical Nurse and helpful reception staff, Dr. Thompson provides a calm and welcoming environment to make your appointment as stress-free as possible.
When not in the clinic or surgery, Valerie enjoys gardening, playing with her Lagotto puppies, and spending time with family.

Yes, we accept patients regardless of private health coverage. If you have Medicare, you will be reimbursed for around 1/3 of the fee.
Private health insurance will usually cover most of the cost of inpatient procedures or surgery fees at private hospitals. We encourage you to contact your Private Health insurance fund to discuss your cover if you need surgery.
Seeing a private practitioner can be a little more costly than going through the public system, although Medicare rebates mean that the gap payment can make a private appointment affordable. The advantage of booking with NE Gynaecology is that rather than waiting on the public system, we can give you a fast-tracked, specialist diagnosis for your condition. This allows you the options of treatments and care through NE Gynaecology, or a plan and referrals to begin treatment through the public system.
It is best to book in for your Mirena/IUD insertion when you are menstruating.
